Trump’s policies on external pressure and the use of force may become more decisive and forceful than those of Joe Biden’s administration.
This opinion was expressed by the American diplomat Kurt Volker. He highlighted that Biden’s approach was more restrained in the use of force and authority, which became evident, for example, during the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
Volcker believes Trump and his administration will be willing to use America’s economic and political influence when they deem it necessary, even if it hurts the country’s allies.
He cited examples from the past, such as Trump’s decision to kill Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and the imposition of tariffs on some countries, including his allies. According to him, Trump is based on the idea of fairness for American companies and is ready to actively defend American interests in the international arena.
Regarding Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, Volker believes this position could influence the Kremlin’s approach. In his opinion, if Moscow realizes that Trump is ready to act actively, then Putin will have to be more restrained in his initiatives.
Volker believes Putin understands that if Trump returns to the US presidency, Russia will have to face the toughest and most unpredictable position from Washington.
