Michel Allaud-Marie, who previously served as French foreign and defence minister, has been given a six-month suspended prison sentence for corruption committed as deputy mayor of Saint-Jean-de-Luz in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

According to the information, this is a grant of 250,000 euros awarded for the needs of the Association of Festival Organisations (AOF) with the participation of Alyo-Marin in 2010 and 2012. This association was run by his father, Bernard Marie. Alyo-Mari’s defence has already stated that it intends to appeal against this ruling.
It should be noted that Alyo-Marie, 77, headed the ministries of Defence, Interior, Justice and Foreign Affairs during the presidencies of Jacques Chirac (1995-2007) and Nicolas Sarkozy (2007-2012).
