The ability to upload media to the Telegraph blogging platform has also been disabled. Durov noted that while the vast majority of Telegram users do not engage in criminal activity, a small proportion of offenders create a negative image and endanger the interests of nearly one billion users.
Durov also noted that Telegram is looking to improve its moderation this year to transform it from an object of criticism to an area of recognition. Telegram previously stated that it has not changed its rules for moderating private chats.
Pavel Durov was arrested at Paris airport on 24 August on the orders of the French National Office of the Judicial Police.
