Manifesto of the PP barons “against the change of the Constitution through the back door” of the PSOE

The ranks are tight. Alberto Nuñez Feijoo managed to align all its regional barons to form a common front against the Catalan quotaAll of them signed a manifesto on Monday in which they warn that the agreement between the PSC and the ERC “points to the waterline” of the autonomous model enshrined in the 1978 Constitution.

The territorial leaders of the PP also affirm in Genoa that they will not accept a bilateral negotiation with the government to benefit from preferential treatment, following Catalonia, and they advocate multilateralism for the ongoing reform of the financing system.

The document that is being released this Monday is the first flying target of a long offensive that the PP will deploy in the coming days. The “response” to a situation of “national emergency”. And, the barons agree, the economic agreement for Catalonia is as follows: “An illegitimate attempt to change our Constitution and our state model through the back door.”

For the regional leaders of the PP, what has been agreed between socialists and republicans will have a negative impact on both Spain and Catalonia. “The only project of Sánchez and his partners is to try to continue dividing the Spanish. To do this, they do not hesitate to use Catalonia and the Catalans as a bargaining chip, who have already been suffering the consequences of independence for a long time. the movement’s way of doing politics and socialism.”

Faced with the umpteenth surrender to the Catalan independence movement, the barons warn that they are “not willing to consent to the progress of a model that not only breaks equality and solidarity among Spaniards, but that, in the medium and long term, will be detrimental to the Catalan economy.” Catalonia itself will prolong the decline to which these years of irresponsible policies have led.

As published by EL ESPAÑOL this Monday, Feijóo has already designed a proposal to unblock the reform of regional financing. It is a plan that contains, among other points, No from the PP to a cancellation of the regional debt à la carte, since the Ministry of Finance intends to compensate the privileges granted to Catalonia.

In this regard, the barons are closing ranks with Feijóo and demanding that the government negotiate so that the next financing model is the result of consensus and not the imposition of one region on others. “The main thing is that everyone loses a little and no one wins,” the popular leadership emphasizes to this newspaper.

In this Monday’s manifesto, the PP presidents add: “Decisions, and even more so those of this magnitude, must be taken together in the corresponding institutional framework, and not in closed-door negotiations between parties that do not represent the whole of Spain or all of Catalonia.”

“Health, education, social services and all public services provided by the CCAA and all the town halls of our country cannot be put in danger, nor can they be used as a bargaining chip for the permanent commercialisation of power in exchange for privileges that will only benefit the politicians who initiated this unconstitutional exchange,” the barons denounce.
