France to receive €300m of frozen Russian assets allocated to kyiv by EU

France will receive 300 million euros of the 1.4 billion euros allocated by the European Union for military assistance to kyiv in proceeds from frozen Russian assets, according to a statement from the French Ministry of Defence published today.

“The European Commission has agreed with the French General Directorate of Armaments to purchase from French industry the most important military goods for Ukraine for an amount of 300 million euros in 2024… in the field of artillery and air defence.” – the statement cited by Interfax said.

The EU has already begun transferring revenues from Russia’s frozen assets to kyiv and to EU countries that will supply arms to kyiv, the head of European diplomacy said earlier. Josep Borrell.

The department noted that the aforementioned revenues should be used solely to promote Ukraine’s military industry, as well as for the purchase of ammunition, artillery systems and air defense systems.
