The Agrarian Association of Young Farmers (Assaja) is intently followed by the first steps of negotiations on European accounts that are afraid that they reduce funds for agricultural policy and terminate their current configuration as an autonomous policy. We have two fears, and I hope you are not fulfilled. The combination of community means means the disappearance of PAC as a specific and autonomous policy. If the budget is also circumcised, what implies is a direct drop in the output of farmers and agricultural assets. The European parliament goes more for the positions that we protect, and not the unique budget and restrictions that the commission protects. Instead, the parliament protects two pillars, direct PAC tools and the development of rural areas, which is very important for Spain.
How do you appreciate the positions that implement PP and PSOE?
We were with the Spanish members of the directors, and the truth is that there is a small difference between PSOE, PP and even VOX as a whole. They do not share what the commission is now protecting, the problem is that this has just begun, what is being done this month is important, but there are many negotiations until it is approved by the heads of state.
Some voices claim that this policy will be decentralized, what is your position in this?
We can criticize PAC, but it is true that it has reached each corner of the peoples of Spain when European politics was pursued. And we have an example of a certain help that autonomous communities or the government require a lot of time to pay them. All that needs to be removed by the European obligation is to go against farmers and, in particular, the Spaniards. Pac Renction is barbarism, although we must wait for the meeting of the Committee on Agriculture and the Development of Rural Regions to see if it will be provided on the table.
In recent years, they have been marked by conflict in Ukraine and are currently discussing what role the EU should accept, how should the Ukrainian cereals currently relate?
It is simple, you should help Ukraine, but it cannot be done by destroying Spanish farmers. There should be time periods in imports, because we need more than we produce here, but we must also do contingents so as not to jeopardize Spanish grain. With the production costs and prices that we have, right now the grain sector. Tons below 200 euros and minimum production of 4000 kg of cereals, which require most farms.
