Adif and Renfe will withdraw in pieces the train derailed last Saturday October 19 in the high-speed tunnel between the Atocha and Chamartín stations at night to “guarantee as little impact as possible” on passengers and that planned high-speed services can operate normally.
As reported by the two companies this Monday, to free the affected road, the plan designed by Adif and Renfe includes cut the train into several pieceswhich will gradually be extracted from the tunnel.
This operation, “which represents an unprecedented technical and logistical effort in the railway sector”, according to Renfe and Adif, was designed to restore the operation of the affected tracks as quickly as possible, giving priority, at the same time, to the safety of passengers and personnel involved.
