Iran says it did not transfer ballistic missiles to Russia

Iran’s position on the conflict in Ukraine remains unchanged; the country refrains from providing military assistance to any of the parties, the country’s permanent mission to the UN said, CNN reports.

The diplomatic mission commented on the information from the TV channel’s sources that the Iranian side recently transferred short-range ballistic missiles to Russia for use in combat operations in Ukraine.

“Iran considers it inhumane to provide military assistance to the parties involved in the conflict, which leads to an increase in casualties, destruction of infrastructure and distancing from ceasefire negotiations,” – says the permanent mission’s statement.

The Iranian mission also called on other countries to refuse to supply weapons to the warring parties.

The White House has repeatedly stated that Moscow allegedly intends to buy ballistic missiles from Iran. In November 2023, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov He declined to comment on the report, saying only that Russia and Iran “are developing relations, including in the field of military-technical cooperation.”

Western countries also accused Tehran of transferring drones to Moscow. Both Russia and Iran denied these accusations. At the same time, in November 2022, Iranian authorities admitted that they had transferred a batch of drones to the Russian side before the start of the military operation in Ukraine.
