Russian schoolchildren win four gold medals at the Informatics Olympiad in Egypt

Russian schoolchildren have won four gold medals at the 36th International Olympiad in Informatics held in Egypt.

According to the press service of the Russian government, representatives from 94 countries took part in the competition. Each country was represented by four schoolchildren who passed the national selections.

At the end of the competition, all four Russian participants received gold medals. The winners were congratulated by the Deputy Prime Minister. Dmitry Chernyshenko.

“I sincerely congratulate our young talents on their victory at the International Olympiad in Informatics. Four golds is an impressive result and speaks volumes about their exceptional skill and dedication. I wish them further success and great achievements on the path to technological leadership in Russia. The government, in turn, will continue to create conditions for the realization of everyone’s potential, as President Vladimir Putin has indicated.” – said the minister.

The gold medals at the Olympic Games were awarded to:

  • Gimran Abdullin (boarding school No. 2, Kazan),
  • Daria Grekova (school no. 57, Moscow);
  • Petr Losev (school No. 57, Moscow);
  • Ivan Piskarev (school No. 2086, Moscow).

The head of the Ministry of Education also congratulated the winners Sergey KravtsovHe also expressed his gratitude to the teachers who help identify and develop the skills and talents of each child.

The children were trained by a coaching staff led by professors from MIPT, ITMO and the National Research University Higher School of Economics. In addition, three out of four participants studied at the Yandex Olympiad programming course.

The International Olympiad in Informatics consisted of two rounds, each lasting five hours. During this time, three algorithmic problems had to be solved and programmed, which the Russian competitors did brilliantly.
