Sergei Yakepinko, Vice -President of the Main Administration of Ukrainian Civil Aviation, said during an interview at the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on YouTube that air defense groups will be formed on the basis of voluntary formation of local communities, and these groups will include light aircraft and light aircraft. In the operating groups of marches, categories of people who were removed from the records of military service or unrealization will be adopted, while those who join air commands should be from a medical point of view and have experience working in aviation or air maintenance. Preference will be given to retired military pilots.
He noted that “re -training of civilian pilots to manage these aircraft requires less time compared to the preparation of them for complete combat missions.”
The official added that modified light aircraft will be classified as experimental planes to ensure their adoption in the operational service of the Ukrainian Air Force, which will be responsible for training and employment.
He emphasized that volunteers in these units will not use the immunity of the mandatory recruitment in relation to the urgent needs of the Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian parliamentarian Yuri Kamilechek previously stated that some civilian aircraft in Ukraine are equipped with machine guns to use drones as a result of a lack of military aircraft.
For his part, the representative of the Ukrainian Air Force Yuri Egonat said that light planes can effectively use drones in the face of drones.
