The Madrid City Council has opened the registration period to take the firefighter exams, in the firefighter driver specialty. With this process, 60 positions should be filled.
Requirements to be a firefighter at Madrid City Hall
General requirements for this call include: being of legal age; not exceeding retirement age; and having the functional capacity to perform the duties of the position. Specific requirements include possession of the title of Bachelor’s degree, Technician or equivalent and driving licenses B, C+E and D.
Until when can I submit the application? How can I do it?
The deadline for submitting applications began on September 4 and ends October 1, 2024.
Registrations must be made via the Electronic headquarters of the Madrid City Council. More specifically, from the section “Application for admission to the selective tests (oppositions) of the Madrid City Council”.
What will the firefighter driver exam look like?
The selection process will be developed through opposition and selective course.
Opposition
It will be divided into four exercises: knowledge tests, spatial orientation test in the city of Madrid, driving a heavy vehicle, physical abilities and medical examination.
In the first of the tests, candidates must pass a type exam 90 question test. In the second exercise, they will have to answer a question 40-question multiple-choice quiz.
Both types of tests will be evaluated 0 to 10 points, five being needed to pass. Correct questions will count as affirmative, blank questions will not count, and negative questions will subtract one third from the positive questions.
In the third section, they must pass the driving test of a heavy fire engine in closed circuit and material evidence:
- 200m sprint race
- 25 meters of diving and 75 meters of swimming
- 1500 meter race
- Climb the 6.5 meter smooth rope
- Vertical race in an eight-story tower
- Confined Space Proficiency Test
- Test of aptitude for working at height.
The last exercise is medical examination which will be used to verify that all candidates have the necessary physical and mental capacities.
Selective course
All candidates who have passed the opposition phase will have access, provided that they do not exceed the total number of places announced. In this case, a ranking will be carried out taking into account the notes.
