Agents from the Family and Women’s Reception Unit (UFAM) of the National Police of Valencia arrested last week a 38-year-old man accused of mistreating her ex-partner and raping her by chemical submissionThe 25-year-old victim went to the emergency room after feeling unwell and tests revealed the presence of drugs that she claimed she had not taken.
The case was reported by Levante-EMV, which detailed how security cameras at a pub captured the man putting a substance in the woman’s drink. Three days later, the young woman reported that the same man, with whom she had rekindled the relationship, had tried to strangle her and subjected her to other episodes of violence. Police sources confirmed that the suspect, who has a history of abuse, was arrested on charges of domestic violence and public health.
The young woman told the police several previous episodes of violenceboth physically and psychologically, during the year of the relationship. Given the extreme risk the victim faced, the Valencia Court Number Five for Violence against Women issued a protection order prohibiting the aggressor from approaching within 500 meters of the complainant.
After his arrest, the man was released with periodic appearances as the investigation into the chemical sexual assault continues.
