the story of the struggle for the dignity of a neighborhood in the Barcelona of the Transition

The year was 1978. While the city of Barcelona had not yet begun to prepare for the Olympic Games, the inhabitants of Torre Baró lived with their backs to their own city. Arriving from Andalusia and Extremadura, they demanded a bus line This would restore dignity to this neighborhood that they built with their own hands. “We live in the mountains, go down, work and hide again,” comments one of his characters.

But the municipality refused, arguing that the the road was too narrow and too steep. So it was a neighbor, Manuel Vital, who decided to divert this bus from line 47 and headed to his house to show that it was possible. That only the will and courage of the neighbors were needed to change things. Joanna Vital, Manuel’s granddaughter, defends this feat: “When you believe in something that is based on principles and values, either you do it and take the risk, or you let it go.”

46 years later, this story is still relevant in the mouths of neighbors: “He is someone who It was very important. In the city, there was always the “runrun” of this resident of Torre Baró who hijacked a bus.” Also from politicians like Gabriel Rufián: “And he made it reach the last street of Torre Baró.” And of course, from his granddaughter: “They held a trial behind closed doors, the women of the neighborhood They broke down the door to get in.”

And now he’s made the leap to the big screen with an adaptation that puts in the center its protagonists. Marcel Barrena, the film’s director, assures: “We have800 neighbors from the neighborhood to tell this truth.”

A film whose cast includes Eduard Fernández, Clara Segura and Carlos Cuevas and in which for its presentation They took this path in reverse. From Torre Baró to the center, so that the viewer feels the same as Manuel that day in May, when he decided to trace a path so that His people could live with dignity.
