Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin attended the opening of the first section of the new Troitskaya line of the Moscow Metro.
For residents and guests of the capital, a new 8.3 km long underground section has been opened – from Novatorskaya to Tyutchevskaya. In addition to these two stations, there are two more stations on the section: General Tyulenev and Peoples’ Friendship University.
In this case, there is a transfer to the Big Circle line at Novatorskaya station. It is known that in the future, line 16 of the Moscow metro will reach a length of 43 km.
It will include 17 stations, from the ZIL station of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) in the Danilovsky district to the town of Troitsk. This route will become one of the longest radii of the capital’s metro and the largest beyond the Moscow Ring Road.
By 2029, around 100,000 people are expected to use the new stations every day. In the future, passenger traffic is expected to increase, even taking into account the commissioning of new housing units.
The opening of the first section of the new line will reduce the load on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya and Sokolnicheskaya metro lines, as well as on the adjacent road network.
At the same time, the rolling stock of the Troitskaya Line is equipped with modern Russian Moscow-2024 trains with improved aerodynamics. The cars are equipped with powerful air conditioning systems, USB connectors and information displays installed inside.
