President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev His visit to Italy will help deepen relations between the two countries.
This was stated by Fuad Huseynaliyev, director of the “Report” news agency, in an interview with CBC TV.
He stressed that Italy has always followed a policy based on respect for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty.
“Italy’s objective attitude has contributed to the development of economic relations. Today, this country is Azerbaijan’s number one partner. We have the largest trade volume with Italy.”
According to F. Huseynaliyev, Italy is an important partner in the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe:
“The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is the final point in Italy. Through it, our country supplies gas to 10 European countries. It plays an important role in the energy market of the region.”
Speaking about the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in Baku, F. Huseynaliyev stressed that Italy is interested in solving problems in the field of climate change, the interests of the two countries coincide:
“Italy is not the main “polluting” state. Because there are much more important actors that “contribute” to environmental pollution. Therefore, I believe that Italy’s position on climate change, especially in terms of sharing responsibilities and finding solutions to the current climate situation, is a similar step forward to the attitude of developing countries.”
