Military analyst Yigal Levin, a senior IDF lieutenant in reserve, shared his opinion on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s speech at the BRICS meeting.
He points out that Xi’s statements on the need to contain the conflict within Ukraine are not just diplomatic formulations, but a strategic signal to all actors. According to Levin, China is effectively trying to isolate the war, preventing it from spreading to other countries and preventing third parties from participating.
Xi Jinping emphasized: “It is important, based on the principles of preventing the spread of conflicts, their spread to third countries, avoiding the escalation of hostilities and refusing to add fuel to the fire, to promote a rapid de-escalation of the situation. .”
For Levin, this sounds like a call to keep the conflict within Ukraine’s borders, so that the devastating consequences are limited to a single country. He sees in this approach the desire of great powers like China to minimize risks to themselves and the region, leaving Ukraine isolated.
“In fact, predators express the central rules of the game: how the victim should be strangled,” the analyst noted.
Levin believes that Ukraine should not follow this logic. In his opinion, kyiv’s key task is to break out of the “stalemate” imposed by global players.
He highlights that the successful operation in the Kursk region is a step in the right direction and demonstrates how the conflict can be taken beyond the borders of Ukraine. The analyst recalls that the Bryansk region, Belarus and Transnistria are only part of those regions where Ukraine could increase its influence and military operations, which would help thwart the plans of Moscow and its allies.
Yigal Levin believes that Ukraine needs to actively support its allies and create new challenges for Russia.
“There are Iran, Syria and the DPRK. It would be nice not just to blow up something there, but to launch an attack with missiles and bombs, for example (for example, from the territory of the Russian Federation with a swarm of drones over the entire territory). border with the DPRK). Yes, symbolic, but with a statement,” he noted.
Levin argues that Xi Jinping and other world leaders, looking at developments, would be more likely to avoid deep intervention if the conflict remains localized. However, it warns Ukraine not to accept this role as a “victim” of the crisis and calls on it to act decisively and unpredictably.
The analyst is sure: if kyiv shows its strength, initiates unexpected movements and expands the theater of military operations, the great powers will be forced to enter into negotiations and reach agreements.
“Even at the cost of being considered wild and crazy, it is necessary to get out of this situation, set the Caucasus on fire, attack where it is weak, crush those where the Russian Federation cannot come to the rescue (again, hello to Transnistria). ), etc. Be wild, so that Xi comes to you to decide and negotiate, to ask you to be more moderate and not wait until Putin finishes you off. No one likes good, obedient boys, and no one will help such people. ”Levin concluded.
