Illescas City Council recognizes the work of the “Chess at School” project

The City Council of Illescas (Toledo), through the Department of Education, carried out last Friday an act of recognition to the Educational Centers that are members of the project “Chess at School” to celebrate the certificate and emblem (Silver Medal at the FIDE School Awards) which will be awarded to the municipality of Illescas by the “Chess for Education” Commission of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in September in Budapest (Hungary).

In this way, the Illescas City Council recognized and thanked the work of seven centersCEIP Martín Chico, CEIP La Constitución, CEIP Ilarcuris, CEIP Clara Campoamor, CEIP El Greco, CEIP Libertad and CEIP Rosa Chacel for being fundamental pieces in obtaining this certificate and emblem.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Illescas, José Manuel Tofiño, Mayor of Illescas; the Councilor for Education and Culture, Carlos Amieba; and the head of the Illescas project “Chess at School”, Félix Toribio.

All agreed on the importance of continuing to work in this direction and continue to promote the values ​​of chess.

They also personally thanked the directors for their involvement from the very beginning in this project, which began to take shape in 2016.

After presenting a plaque to each of the educational centres, the event ended with a family photo and a commitment to continue working together on this interesting project in Illescas.
