The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has been denied an official visit to Israel as planned, Haqqin.az reports citing Israeli media.
Josep Borrell announced that he will make an official visit to Israel on September 14 and 15. After consultations and meetings, Jerusalem refused, saying that Borrell would not be able to visit Israel on these dates.
“Israel said that Borrell announced the date of the visit without coordinating it with representatives of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and without asking permission. The head of European diplomacy was asked to coordinate the visit after the end of the autumn holidays in Israel,” writes Haqqin.az.
It should be noted that this proposal is full of irony: the autumn holidays in Israel end at the end of October and Josep Borrell, as reported, will leave his current post at the beginning of October.
