Mayor Jaime Martínez will build the first municipal dissuasive car park in Playa de Palma, which will have 319 spaces. The six kilometers of Playa de Palma are an extension where the congestion on its main roads This is a constant caused by the agglomeration of vehicles, especially in high season, which makes it a permanent source of emissions and environmental pollution.
The City Council considers that with the construction of this new surface car park, it will alleviate the persistent traffic jams on the various roads in this tourist area, because vehicles will travel less distance until you find a place to park, making mobility more environmentally friendly.
This will also reduce the likelihood of traffic-related accidents and the number of vehicles parked impolitely on sidewalks and flower beds will also be lower.

Regarding the deadlines, the calculations are a total of four months for the preparation of the executive project, the approval or obtaining of licenses and another six for its construction, all without taking into account the administrative deadlines relevant to the calls for tenders.
With the creation of this car park in this tourist reference area, the Town Hallo will promote accessibility in low and high season to all activities and spaces related to tourism, restaurants, bars and bicycle or scooter rental services, among others.
In addition, will generate more available space for parking in the rest of the urban area from Playa de Palma, and intermodality in terms of mobility will be favored for tourists, visitors and residents who park their vehicles inside the car park.
The aim is to ensure that potential users can use sustainable means of transport compatible with the use of private vehicles: scooters, Palma’s public bicycle service (Bicipalma) and that they can also connect more easily to collective public transport, in this case urban buses (EMT) and intercity buses (TIB).
