Russian President Vladimir Putin’s comment about his support for Democrat Kamala Harris in the US election is part of a game of chess, Republican candidate Donald Trump said at a rally in Wisconsin.
“He supported Kamala. I was very offended. I was wondering why he supported Kamala. He plays chess… Did he say it with a smile? I think so. Maybe with a smile. I don’t even know who can say for sure. Nobody understands.” – Trump said.
Putin spoke about the US elections during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). He said that Russia would have preferred a president Joe Biden as a candidate, but after his withdrawal from the race his vice president became the favorite Kamala HarrisPutin said that she had an “infectious laugh,” which meant that she was “fine.” If this is true, then, according to the Russian president, Harris could refrain from imposing new sanctions.
So it was difficult for Trump to evaluate the Russian president’s words.
“I don’t know what to say about this. I don’t know if I feel offended or if he did me a favor.” – he admitted.
The White House has asked the Russian side to refrain from commenting on the elections and from interfering in them. The Kremlin stressed that Putin was responding to a question from the moderator of the conversation and that this issue is not a priority. Moscow denies the accusations of interference.
The US presidential election will take place on November 5. The first candidate debates are scheduled for September 10. The debate will be Trump’s seventh and Harris’ first. The previous debate, in which Joe Biden represented the Republican Party, served as the reason for her refusal to nominate.
According to the average results of the latest polls, Harris is ahead of Trump: 47.3% versus 44.2%, RBC recalls.
