The trail of an attack linked to a rivalry between gangs from different neighboring towns is confirmed, the prosecutor’s office had previously declared.
On Monday morning, around 8 a.m., four high school students, aged between 15 and 17, were on the RER E. When the train arrived at the Ozoir-la-Ferrière station (Seine-et- Marne), the group of attackers, made up of eight to ten people, boarded the train and activated the alarm to immobilize it.
Inside they beat the teenagers, who were used to sitting in the same place on the RER. The latter were attacked with an ax, an Opinel-type knife, tear gas and a baseball bat. They were injured in the head, arm and hand. One of them is at risk of losing his little finger. Of the four victims, two were seriously injured and hospitalized and the other two were more lightly injured.
The victims, minors aged 16 and 17, were attacked when they were on their way to high school. The main suspect, aged 16, was arrested at his home and taken into police custody, a police source told AFP. During the search, an ax was found and seized.
Attacks between rival gangs are common in the Seine-et-Marne, leading to police interventions for armed gatherings of dozens of teenagers and young people and violence at gatherings, unrelated to drug trafficking. The phenomenon is especially developed in Ile-de-France, a region that has seen several deaths of minors in recent years.
