Five Palestinians killed in Israeli drone strike on West Bank refugee camp

Five Palestinians, including two minors, died on Monday in a Israeli army drone attack on Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkaremin the northern occupied West Bank, as confirmed by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

“A plane recently attacked an operations room in the Nur Shams area,” the army said in a statement this evening.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health, for its part, warned of the arrival of five corpses at Tulkarem hospital following a bombing in the refugee camp.

The deceased are Muhannad Kamal Qarawi, 19; Jibril Ghassan Jibril, 20; Muhammad Ali Mustafa Yussef, 49; Mohammed Allian, 16; and Adnan Ayser Jaber, 15, according to the Palestinian News Agency. Wafa.

The group died following a drone attack that fired several missiles at a house in the Al Manshiya neighborhood of the refugee camp, the statement said. Wafa.

“We call on the masses of our proud people in the West Bank to more clashes, confrontation and resistance against the (Israeli) occupation and its settlers,” Hamas said in a statement condemning the attack. “And, without a doubt, it is a victorious jihad or death,” it said.

The bombing in Tulkarem was the seventh carried out by the Israeli army using an unmanned aircraft in the occupied West Bank in August, which killed 33 Palestinians, most of them linked to militias.

Last Thursday, the Army had already announced the end of a raid that lasted 14 hours in the city, where three Palestinian militiamen were also killed in an attack with an unmanned aerial vehicle.

The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, linked to the armed wing of the secular Palestinian Fatah party, later claimed responsibility for the three dead as their fighters, whom they identified as Muwiyah Al Hajj Ahmed, Waseem Anbar and Imad Shreim.

The Nur Shams refugee camp has become one of the strongholds of the Palestinian militias as well as the city of Jenin, also located in the northern part of the West Bank, largely occupied militarily and administratively by Israel.

So far in 2024, at least 297 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, mostly militants or attackers, but also civilians, including at least 70 minors, according to the tally. Efeafter closing 2023 as the deadliest year in two decades, with more than 520 deaths.

Since October 7, some 642 Palestinians have died in violent incidents with Israel – including at least 150 minors – mostly with troops and a dozen at the hands of settlers.

On the Israeli side, 22 people have died this year: 11 in uniform and 11 civilians, including six settlers.
