In the DPR, servicemen of the South group of forces have developed and manufactured a model of raincoat to protect personnel from damage caused by shrapnel, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The raincoat is made of Kevlar, which showed the best results in the testing process of various materials. The raincoat is fire and water resistant and is attached to the bulletproof vest, fully protecting the soldier from the risk of receiving shrapnel wounds, the ministry said. In addition, the cloak can be used as a camouflage gown, as well as a stretcher.
“In order to protect personnel from shrapnel wounds, using the combat experience gained in the area of the special military operation, servicemen of the 1st separate motorized rifle brigade “Slavyanskaya” of the “South” group of forces developed and manufactured in the field the first experimental sample of a protective raincoat,” – says the message.
In the test footage provided by the Ministry of Defense, a soldier at a distance of about 1 to 1.5 meters from the raincoat detonates RGD-5 and F-1 hand fragmentation grenades. During the tests, water bottles covered with a raincoat remained intact.
