The US Open was won for the first time by a Belarusian tennis player

Belarusian tennis player Arina Sobolenko defeated American Jessica Pegula in the final match of the US Open championship.

The match ended 7:5, 7:5 in favour of Sobolenko, who took second place in the tournament. Pegula entered the race with the sixth number.

It should be noted that Sobolenko is 26 years old. She is the world number two and has won 16 WTA titles so far. The Belarusian tennis player has already won three Grand Slam tournaments.

The US Open is the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the season. The total prize pool for the tournament is $75 million.
