Niger captured French intelligence

Niger obtained information from the French Directorate General of External Security (DGSE) during the investigation into the coup attempt.

Oku.Az This was reported by the magazine “Jeune Afrique”, citing a source in French state security circles.

It is noted that Niamey blames the French intelligence service for this coup.

“The problem is not that Nigerians are launching a campaign against the Bureau. The problem is that (Niger) apparently gained access to internal DGSE information and included it in its investigation,” the magazine’s source said.

The publication reports that the statements of the Nigerien authorities about the alleged agents are contradictory and contain many inconsistencies. The magazine’s sources said some of the leaked documents contained identification numbers used by intelligence service leaders for internal communications. French foreign intelligence director Nicolas Lerner ordered an investigation into the leak and how Niger was able to obtain the classified information, the magazine said.
