George Clooney and Brad Pitt at the Venice Film Festival, this may be a detail for you…

Wolves in solidarity

They made a festival. Guests from 81my edition of the Mostra, Brad Pitt and George Clooney chained together, at the end of last week, photocalls, ceremonies, social events, red carpets, press conferences and other events, illuminating Venice with their charm, humour and complicity. To the point of forgetting that they were the first to present the film. wolves, Directed by Jon Watts and available on September 27 on Apple TV? Yes, but given the setting of this buddy movie (old fashioned buddy movie), is it really a drama?

Pitt brave

As the tap-dancing act of the two friends is perfectly rehearsed, each plays a precise sartorial role that allows them to avoid too head-on competition. Brad Pitt is here the modern and fashionable leading man, in search of deconstruction and capable, with a bit of tan, blonde highlights or bulging muscles, of gently conveying a creative suit cut or an unexpected colour. Let’s say it’s quite well done, even if these big shoes may give rise to serious criticism…

It hurts at the bottom

George Clooney embodies a different model of masculinity, more discreet, less spectacular, more classic, less fashionable, more of an ideal son-in-law, less Californian surfer, more conservative, less deconstructed, thinner, less muscular, more pearl grey, less water green, more grey, less mottled. Here too, he is quite well done. Although, once again, the conclusion escapes us: what an idea to complete this outfit with thick boots when moccasins were essential.

needle talent

Dressed very differently, George Clooney and Brad Pitt, however, have one thing in common in this photo. Both seem to care a lot about their watch and its visibility: one is busy replacing it with his arm outstretched, and the other is adopting the traditional pose of watch lovers delighted with their new purchase. In this case, George Clooney, ambassador of Omega, is doing his job conscientiously, while Brad Pitt, equipped with a yellow gold Patek Philippe Calatrava, is fully living out his passion for watches.

Holy drawing

Finally, how can we fail to mention this flock of winged lions that adorn the blue wall behind the stars? Equivalent to the Palme d’Angeles, this lion is obviously the symbol of the festival and, more generally, of the city of Venice. More specifically, it is the lion of Saint Mark, a representation of the evangelist Mark, whose remains rest in the Venetian basilica of the same name. Note, however, that while the lion is represented here in a minimalist way, without the slightest accessory, it is traditionally equipped with a sword and a book, the first symbolising war and the second peace.
