Edmundo González, a former presidential candidate for the opposition United Platform of Venezuela, fled the country and sought asylum in Spain.
Oku.az Venezuelan Vice President Delsy Rodriguez reportedly announced this on the Telegram channel.
Venezuela’s Court of Appeals has issued an arrest warrant for Gonzalez, who failed to appear in court when called to testify. The agency is investigating the opposition’s publication of its election results at the same time as official information, as well as calls for violence.
It should be recalled that the presidential elections were held in the republic on July 28. According to the official results, incumbent President Nicolás Maduro received 51 percent of the votes, while opposition leader González received 43 percent of the votes.
