Marc Márquez’s legendary comeback to claim epic Misano win… starting ninth!

Marc Márquez has something. Something special. Something that almost no one in the world of sport has. In the world of motoring. That champion DNA. That magic. That wand capable of casting his best spells when the situation seems at its worst. He doesn’t give up. Never. And despite everything that happened to him in Misano, he leaves San Marino with a big smile.

And with a victory. With his second consecutive victory in 2024 after that of Aragon. After his domination in the third Grand Prix held in Spain. Then, with Gresini’s Ducati, he ended a streak of almost a thousand days without hearing the Spanish anthem on a MotoGP podium.

It took time, and it took him little time to be able to enjoy the flag behind him again. To climb that step, that first step, after a Sunday race in a World Cup that he wants to reconquer. And it was in Misano.

In San Marino. In the Bagnaia garden. At Ducati. It was during a test in which he started ninth after a crash in Q2 that seemed, in his own words, to have left him without any options at the wheel of Marco Simoncelli.

But no. Not at all. Because that’s how he is. Because he’s not one of those who give in. Because he’s one of those who are capable of considering any opportunity, no matter how small, as a clear option. And he perfectly understood a career that others, this Jorge Martín, were choking on.

In a light rain, Marc goes from ninth to seventh place at the start. He had to recover, after having fallen a few more places. From that moment on, look up. Acosta and Morbidelli fell to the ground, Martín made a mistake… and he while he was moving forward. So much so that, suddenly, he was already on the podium.

And he put himself first. First after passing Pecco Bagnaia in an epic maneuver to lead the race on lap 8. There was still a lot to do, but he had everything under control. Not only did he not suffer against Bagnaia, but he was able to increase the distance to the double Ducati champion.

Victory was coming. Victory has come. A victory to tighten even more a MotoGP world championship that Márquez can already dream of. Marc is back. The best Marc is back.
