A fake diver claimed that a “mine” was used to drag him ashore near Sochi.

The “mine” found by tourists on the Black Sea coast is a dummy installed under the sea ahead of the Olympic Games, Sochi Public reports, citing a diving instructor.

A video of bathers dragging a mine ashore was circulated on social media earlier. The footage shows several men rolling a round spiked object onto the beach while other bathers watch. This was claimed to have happened on the beach in Sochi. The information about the presence of a “strange object” – a mine – on the beach in Sochi has not been confirmed, city authorities said.

“No similar incidents have been identified in the territory of Sochi,” – said the Sochi administration.

Sochi Online confirms that this is not Sochi and tells the story of the diver.

“New details about the mine are emerging. It seems that this is Imeretinka, and the mine is actually a dummy that was pulled from the bottom of the sea, where it was installed before the Olympics by the diving club. This is what a former diving instructor writes: “These are not mines, but dummys. Before, even before the Olympics, they were hanging under water at a depth of 15 meters, there they were hung by the diving club where I worked as a diving instructor, and at the same depth there was the same fake treasure and about 8 of these “mines”. I do not rule out that they were hanging there for several years after the club was closed, although most likely the video is old.” – says the message.
