Five of the ten people arrested in the anti-drug operation Meicende (La Coruña) are incarcerated

The judge of the Court of Instruction number 7 of La Coruña, acting as guardian, decreed the entry into temporary prison, communicated and without bail, of five of the ten detainees in an operation against drug trafficking in Meicende, Arteixo.

On Thursday, 9 of those arrested were brought to court. Among them, five were sent to prison and others four were releasedaccording to the Superior Court of Xustiza of Galicia.

The justice system has taken preventive measures to avoid possible escapes among those released. Their passports were taken away and they were prohibited from leaving the country. Nine people are under investigation for crime against public health and membership in a criminal group. Another person was arrested during the operation, but was released from police custody.

The operation

On Wednesday November 6, the Civil Guard carried out an anti-drug operation in Meicende to fight against “small-scale” traffic. The operation is the result of the work of recent months, as declared last Wednesday by the deputy government delegate in La Coruña, María Rivas.
