The threat of war in the Middle East: The media described how the United States is trying to avoid an escalation

On Saturday, August 24, U.S. Air Force Senior General Charles Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, began an unannounced visit to the Middle East aimed at discussing measures to prevent a new wave of tensions that could escalate into a broader conflict. The region is bracing for the possible threat of an Iranian attack on Israel in response to the liquidation of Hamas terrorist group Politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh.

The Times of Israel writes about this.

General Brown has arrived in Jordan and is also scheduled to visit Egypt and Israel in the coming days. The purpose of his visit is to hear the views of the military leaders of the countries in the region and discuss joint measures to prevent an escalation. According to him, the United States is making efforts to reach an agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas, which, according to Brown, could “reduce tension” in the region.

“We are looking at ways to avoid further escalation and ensuring that we are taking all necessary steps to avoid a full-scale conflict,” Brown told Reuters before landing in Jordan.

In recent weeks, the United States has reinforced its military presence in the Middle East, sending the USS Abraham Lincoln strike group to the region, replacing the USS Theodore Roosevelt. In addition, F-22 Raptor fighter jets and a cruise missile submarine have been deployed, indicating the United States’ readiness to defend its forces and prevent possible aggression.

General Brown stressed that ensuring the safety of U.S. troops in the region remains a priority. “We have deployed additional forces to send a strong signal of readiness to prevent conflict, as well as to protect our forces in the event of an attack,” he said.

Earlier, Kursor wrote that in the context of the risk of war in the Middle East, the Iranian Foreign Ministry launched new threats against Israel.
