Relations between Europe and the United States should remain as good as possible, regardless of “who got along better or worse with whom.” This was stated by Czech President Petr Pavel when commenting on the results of the US presidential elections, in which Donald Trump won.
He said he does not believe a second Trump term could seriously disrupt transatlantic ties.
“Most states have taken the path of greater responsibility for the defense of Europe, so from that point of view I think NATO has made progress in the eyes of Donald Trump.” – suggested the president of the Czech Republic.
However, he makes no predictions about what Trump’s policy toward Ukraine, the Middle East, Europe or NATO might be.
“Only when we know the specific contours [политики]We can talk about it.” – said.
At the same time, Pavel noted that “this will depend on how he specifically addresses it, as well as how the Russian president addresses it.” Vladimir Putin, but also Europe, because the European voice must be heard.”
Let us remember that Donald Trump won the presidential elections held on November 5 in the United States. Previously, he had repeatedly stated that he would end the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours of his election.
