Ukraine has created its own high-precision glide bomb – Forbes

Ukraine has created its own high-precision glide bomb. Forbes reports on this with reference to recent video materials and statements from sources in military circles.

A recently released video shows a Su-24 bomber with a prototype of the new munition placed under the wing of the aircraft. And in June, Brigadier General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Golubtsov He reported on the development of a special module to modernize Soviet unguided aerial bombs, the same as was done in Russia with the KAB.

The new Ukrainian aerial bomb is apparently equipped with a rocket booster and retractable wings, which allows it to fly at a distance of up to 65 kilometers, the article says. This, according to Forbes, opens up new tactical perspectives for Ukrainian aviation.

The proposed GPS-guided bomb, equipped with wings and a rocket booster, is reminiscent of the French Hammer, also with a range of about 65 km. Perhaps Ukrainian engineers copied French developments.

What is especially important in this case is that the new bomb can be used to hit targets on Russian territory without asking permission from the allies. However, Forbes writes, the idea will remain at the conceptual stage until tests are carried out and Ukrainian factories begin serial production of the new aerial bomb.

“We note… that the main limitation to the use of such bombs is not so much their number, but the number of aircraft capable of delivering them. It is this superiority in aviation that is responsible for the massive use of KABs by the Russians,” writes the Ukrainian publication Strana.
