The general secretary of UGT Extremadura, Patrocinio Sánchez, will present it candidacy will be re-elected during the Regional Congress to be held next March, as reported at the VII meeting of the Regional Committee this Friday in Mérida.

Furthermore, during the meeting of the Committee an emergency resolution was unanimously approved in which the UGT regrets the tragedy and expresses solidarity with the victims and people affected by DANA in several regions, mainly in the Valencian Community.

In the said resolution, the union assessed the government approved first aid program on November 5, which responds to numerous demands formulated by the union and which must be “supplemented by other subsequent ones which contribute to the return to relative normality of the population and the productive fabric”.

In this sense, the UGT considered this news social shield worth more than 10.6 billion euros and required administrative agility in the management of aid, for which it demanded the “immediate reinforcement” of the staff of health, social and employment services and social security, in order to cope with the foreseeable increase in requests and the actions in each of them can be adequately addressed.

Likewise, he insisted on the need to review urban planning policies and civil protection protocols and declared that “it is not acceptable that irresponsibility and negligence are always paid for by the working class”, underlined the union in a press release.

Finally, the UGT Extremadura called for unity and the mobilization of public resources necessary for the reconstruction of the damage, the reparation of victims and the progress of society “according to the democratic principles of the rule of law”.

“It is time to provide justice to the victims, it will be time to demand responsibilities and solutions that avoid in the future consequences as dramatic as those suffered by thousands of Spanish families, especially in the Valencian Community”, concludes the emergency resolution approved in the VII Regional Committee of the UGT Extremadura.
