The president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, criticized the fact that the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, announced paid permits for those affected by the floods when she did not discuss it with economic agents and that the companies concerned are “ruined”. Díaz announced this Friday that the next Council of Ministers will approve paid work permits for people affected by DANA who cannot work due to care, mobility problems or lack of connectivity, among other causes.

“I don’t understand why there are people who take advantage of this to publish measures that are neither agreed nor known. We do not understand that because of politics, social shields are proposed to the detriment of ruined companies,” Garamendi declared in Bilbao after the silent gathering of those affected by the dana convened by the CEOE and the Basque employers’ associations.

The president of Spanish employers, who stressed that “another part of the government” consults employers on the measures, stressed that these paid permits “could make sense” in the covid pandemic but in this case “it does not there are no businesses.” » having been “devastated” by the floods.

“Here it is about helping everyone as much as possible, so that businesses can reopen, helping workers, but, please, let this be done together, let us work together and let us let’s not make headlines, “That people don’t really need them, what people need is help, that they see real solidarity”, he added .

Garamendi affirmed that it was a “very, very delicate moment” because of “the real scale of this story”, which requires “unity” and the joint work of “everyone”, this is why he asked “the political class to stop playing politics” with the floods.
