The FBI is investigating a series of racist messages sent to several black people in the United States. Among them is Kyla, a 12-year-old girl who was playing a basketball game at school when she and her friend received a text message that may well have come from the 16th century.
“You have been selected to harvest cotton from the nearest plantation. “Be prepared to be sued, don’t try anything strange!” is written in the message. A situation which, according to the young girl’s mother, completely “shocked” them.
Like her, several people have had to face this type of messages. Another person concerned acknowledged responding by emphasizing that he “is not his ancestors”. “I will respond to lashes and shots,” he wrote to them.
Apparently the messages come from a texting platform. In this way, those who send them enjoy anonymity to harass and intimidate black people from different parts of the United States.
“I am overcome with anxiety and fear about how to make my children understand the world they will have to face as black children,” admitted one mother after discovering the content of these messages.
Donald Trump’s campaign dissociated itself from these SMS messages. However, the main organization defending black people is clear: racist groups are multiplying.after the victory of the tycoon and “feel empowered” to spread hatred.
