Joseph Borrell clearly indicates that the European Union “does not recognize democratic legitimacy“of Nicolas Maduro’s victory in Venezuela. In an interview with ‘The world“, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs pledges to seek “avenues of negotiation” with the country, something he hopes Brazil and Colombia can achieve.
“I know that there are several governments that are trying or have tried to dialogue with (the Venezuelan president interviewed) Maduro. But it is also true that, So far, nothing has been achieved.“The only thing that needs to be done is a process that leads to the recognition of the winner of the elections,” he argues.
Borrell speaks of the “serious crisis“who crosses a country with more than 2,000 people detained, urging you to “put yourself in the worst possible situation” in case attempts at mediation with Maduro fail.
“We in Europe have already drawn conclusions. At this point, without any evidence having been presented that Maduro has won them, we don’t acknowledge that he did itbecause on the other hand, there is enough information to to clearly doubt.
