Three people are accused of participating in an alleged Iranian plot to kill Trump during the campaign. And, according to a person close to the investigation cited by the Washington Post, two of the individuals have been arrested.

Indeed, the US Department of Justice has filed criminal charges for an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump, foiled by the FBI, reports the Associated Press agency. The federal government said the charges were criminal charges related to an alleged murder-for-hire plot to unseat Trump ahead of this week’s presidential election, which he won against his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris. .

The criminal complaint, filed in Manhattan federal court, alleges that an unidentified member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard asked a contact last September to develop a plan to surveil and ultimately kill Trump.

That month, U.S. intelligence informed Trump of an alleged Iranian plot to kill him, his campaign said at the time.

The report, from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), reportedly focused on a plot unrelated to the two failed assassination attempts against the then-Republican presidential candidate. It was released amid reports suggesting Iran was carrying out a hack against the Trump campaign.

The campaign then said the briefing concerned “real and specific threats by Iran to assassinate [a Trump] with the aim of destabilizing and sowing chaos in the United States.
