The Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 1 of Briviesca accepted the expulsion process against the former nuns of Belorado for treatment. As the Archdiocese of Burgos reported in a statement, this measure also extends to people who do not have “legal title and authorization” to stay in the monastery premises. This is the new bishop fake of the congregation, Rodrigo da Silva, and his entourage recently installed at the convent, as reported by Religión Digital.

The court gives ten days to respond to the lawsuit and gives the possibility of holding a hearing on December 19, 2024. Likewise, it sets January 23, 2025 for the launch, in the event that the plaintiffs do not appear. The Civil Guard will have to identify the people who occupy the property, in addition to the ex-nuns themselves.

The abbess of the monastery of Santa Clara de Belorado broke with the Church to come under the tutelage of Pablo de Rojas and his “Pía Unión Sancti Pauli Apostoli”, whose founder was excommunicated in 2019, but they remained locked up in the convent of Las Poor Clares of Belorado. The number of ex-nuns has been reduced in recent days, going from ten excommunicated to only seven, after the departure of Sister Paz, and the most recent of Sister Adriana, who left the convent a few days ago to go live with his family.

The five oldest nuns who live in the monastery would be exempt from having to leave the facilities since, as they pointed out, “they properly constitute the monastic community of Belorado and legally reside in the monastery.”

“The Federation of Poor Clares of Our Lady of Aránzazu has planned immediate attention to the senior sisters of the Belorado Monastery itself, displacing sisters from other monasteries, provided that the former nuns do not prevent their access” , concludes the press release.
