Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit St. Petersburg on September 11-12, where he will take part in a meeting of senior representatives of the BRICS countries in charge of security issues, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said at a briefing, TASS reports.
“At the invitation of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu Wang Yi will visit St. Petersburg on September 11-12 to attend the 14th BRICS Senior Representatives Meeting on Security Issues. – said the diplomat.
According to her, during the meeting Wang Yi will discuss with his BRICS colleagues the international security situation and “major international and regional problems.” In addition, she said, he will conduct preparatory work for the meeting of leaders of the BRICS countries, which will be held in Kazan at the end of October.
“BRICS countries have always been committed to maintaining world peace, promoting common development, practicing multilateralism and promoting global governance in a more fair and reasonable manner.” – Mao Ning also said.
He added that China hopes to cooperate with BRICS partners to strengthen the organization’s strategic partnership and actively contribute to maintaining peace and security around the world.
