According to the decree, the Ministry of Culture should prepare and implement a plan of events for the centenary of Nabi Khazri, taking into account the proposals of the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan, and the Cabinet of Ministers should resolve the issues arising from this Decree.
It is worth noting that December 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nabi Khazri (son of Nabi Alakbar oglu Babayev), a people’s poet of Azerbaijan, a public figure and a laureate of state awards.
Nabi Khazri is an outstanding wordsmith who played a unique role in the development of Azerbaijani literature by enriching it with new poetic images. Throughout his multifaceted creativity, the artist glorified the purity of the spiritual world of man with broad lyrical-epic sheets and called on him to live by lofty ideals. Many pages of the historical and cultural memory of the Azerbaijani people have found their artistic embodiment in his works built on the rock of high citizenship. Nabi Khazri’s poetry, which instills feelings of attachment to natural beauty and the native land, is characterized by deep lyricism, expressive style and philosophical attitude to life. Nabi Khazri’s dramatic works were successfully staged in Azerbaijani theaters and brought fame to the author. At the same time, Nabi Khazri worked effectively as a public figure and did admirable work in promoting Azerbaijani culture and art in foreign countries.
