ICC arrest warrants possible for Netanyahu and Galant

The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Karim Khan, asked judges not to delay issuing arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Hamas terrorist leader Yahya Sinwar.

This was reported by the news portal “KAN”.

In his statement, Karim Khan justified his request by stating that “the unjust delay in bringing the perpetrators to justice violates the rights of their victims.” The prosecutor also noted that Israelis accused of committing war crimes in the Palestinian territories are subject to the jurisdiction of his court, and the court has the right to question them.

He therefore called on the judges to reject all legal requests for delay and to rule on issuing arrest warrants as soon as possible. The prosecutor also questioned Israel’s claims that it would independently investigate the war crimes allegations in accordance with the legal standards of the Oslo Accords.

It maintains that there are reasons to believe that Benjamin Netanyahu, Yoav Galant, Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif and Ismail Haniyeh (who were also subject to court orders) are responsible for “crimes against humanity.”

Earlier, Kursor wrote that the ICC decided that discussions on issuing arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar would be held in a public format.

The evidence presented by prosecutor Karim Khan focused on the effects of the war on Israelis and Palestinian Arabs in the Gaza Strip.
