PP proposes to increase aid to autonomous communities for school textbooks to 100 million

The PP asks the Government to Pedro Sanchez double the coverage program of textbooks and teaching materials that it provides to the autonomous communities, at least until the 100 million euros. The popular Assistant Secretary of Health and Education, Esther Muñoztook it upon himself to make this proposal in an attempt to help families cope with “the the most expensive school year in history“And that is why we are asking for a government that is more concerned about income, to be more sensitive and more responsible in Spanish education,” said the PP leader.

“What we are asking the Government is to double the amount of the school and material coverage program that it provides to the autonomous communities. Currently, its contribution amounts to 50 million euros and what we are asking is that it be doubled to 100”, defended Ester Muñoz this Monday at the PP press conference held at the national headquarters of Genoa, in Madrid. Muñoz was accompanied by the national spokesperson of the PP, Borja Always. “This aid is frozen because the Government does not care about approving budgets“What is not frozen is the increase in the CPI or taxes,” Muñoz criticized the executive.

The PP’s Assistant Secretary for Health and Education said that the start of the school year for the 2024-2025 school year will be “the most expensive in history.” “There are different studies that say this year the cost per student for a family will be on average almost 500 eurosthat is almost 42 euros more than the previous year. Of course, this only takes into account school supplies, books, stationery, tracksuits, sneakers, as well as other expenses that can increase with the start of classes. Imagine the middle-aged families or those families who have two or three children and who have to pay more than 1,500 euros to start the school year,” he noted.

“The Spanish government that collects the most in the history of Spain and the one that collects the least, and the government that helps the least. And that is why what we say is that they must be united“They must help families,” added the PP leader, which is why she proposes to increase aid for school textbooks to 100 million.

“More concerned about the Catalan quota”

In this sense, Ester Muñoz also requests to approve “urgently” a territorial cooperation program to strengthen aid to autonomous communities in the educational field, such as canteens or school transport. “The minister is more concerned with solving the problems of government corruption and sell the separatist concert“, he stressed, referring to the Minister of Education and Sports, Pilar Alegria.

The PP deputy in Congress recalls that in the communities where the PP governs the longest, “these are the ones that obtain the best results in the Pisa report.”It is not possible that in education we go at two or three speeds depending on the autonomous community in which we are located. It cannot be that the level of education of our children is different. It is not possible that if you are lucky enough to have been born in Soria, you have one of the best educations in Europe and that if you are born in another territory governed, for example, by independentists like Catalonia, they have the worst education in Spain,” he said. stressed.

“That is why merit, effort, strengthening of the student, training of teachers are also part of and deepen this equity for all students and we think that is very important,” he added.

A common EBAU

Finally, Ester Muñoz recalls that this year is the first to be implemented the common EBAU proposed by the PP in all the territories it governs and regrets that the remaining autonomous communities have not joined it for the moment. “We had our initiative for a common EBAU that, as you all know, we presented in July. We have worked for many months, with great effort, with all the autonomous communities to carry out this project that will be carried out next year, and which is currently being negotiated by all our autonomous communities,” he assured.

“We do not understand why we are voting against equality, opportunities, fairness for all children and adolescents in Spain,” concluded the PP deputy in Congress, while once again asking for an increase in aid for the purchase of school textbooks.
