Digi data center outage causes customer call problems

The Romanian operator Digi’s call and voice communications service has been experiencing problems since Monday afternoon. According to company sources who told elDiario.es, these were caused by a “hardware failure in a data center” that is affecting “some customers, who are noticing a deterioration in this service.”

“We are currently working to resolve the incident in its entirety,” the operator said. Its users began to notice the problems around 10 a.m., according to the Downdetector portal, which specializes in collecting feedback from people affected by this type of service outage. The maximum peak in reports occurred around 1:30 p.m.

Digi uses Telefónica’s mobile network, an agreement that both parties recently renewed for another 16 years. The Romanian company became the fourth Spanish operator thanks to the merger between Orange and MásMóvil and is pursuing an aggressive strategy to attract customers with low-cost rates. In 2023, it billed 642 million euros in Spain, 28% more, reaching almost 6.5 million customers.
