Rueda defies opposition to investigate Eulen contracts

This Tuesday, the Galician Nationalist Bloc, with the support of the PSdeG, will propose in the plenary session of Parliament the creation of a commission of inquiry into the contracts signed by the Autonomous Administration with Eulen, where the sister of the current leader of the PP and the former president is a Galician director, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. A decision that the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, challenged them to carry out, after having “lost count of all the threats to request a commission of inquiry” that the nationalists have made, both in the previous legislature and in the current one. And, as the regional leader pointed out, the opposition has the possibility of carrying out this commission with or without the support of the Popular Group, so the real question is whether “they are really interested” or if they are just “making noise”.

“The question is not whether we are going to support it,” he said in response to questions from the media, “but whether the BNG is really interested in having it,” because, if so, “it can do it directly” thanks to “a reform that the Popular Party, with an absolute majority, carried out” in previous legislatures. “If you consider it necessary, go ahead,” he invited the nationalists, stressing that, from his party, they are facing the situation with “absolute tranquility.” Of course, “if it is one more threat, because they really think it is better to make noise, they will demonstrate once again what they are really dedicated to,” he said. “It is in their hands, it is as simple as that, but they already knew it,” he said, referring to other commissions that, in the end, came to nothing.

“A lot of things” to discuss with Sánchez

Likewise, when asked about national issues, he assured that as head of the regional government he had “many things to discuss” with Pedro Sánchez, but that he is still waiting to hold that meeting that has been pending since the last regional elections. He revalidated his position with an overwhelming absolute majority. Of course, he once again assured that, for his part, there would be no “bilateral negotiations on financing issues” because “Galicia wants all” the regional presidents to sit down.

Responding to questions from the media, he assured that, “if the President of the Government calls him”, “of course”, he will go, provided that it is not an attempt to deal individually with regional officials on “financing issues” to “avoid talking to everyone. “When the President of the Government does not want to do it [mantener la reunión con todos los presidentes autonómicos] This is because he wants to continue to deepen inequalities for the benefit of some, who, of course, are not Galicia. We are not in their improvement objectives, others are,” he said, lamenting that “to improve others”, the Galician community “is going to lose”. Thus, once again, he called for the convening of the Conference of Presidents and the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council as “necessary” to face this situation.

He also began to evaluate the possible extension of the General State Budgets, criticizing that “one day you hear that it does not matter to have them or that it is even better not to have them, and the next day that they are preparing them.” which makes it ugly that in this context it is “very difficult to make forecasts.” “Of course, I say that having budgets is not the same as not having them, that is why in Galicia they are approved every year and that is why I know that if there is no PGE, Galicia will probably lose.” However, “the person in charge of carrying them out and talking” with everyone, “says something different every day” and, for his part, does not have “any type of information.”
