Begoña Gómez’s lawyer, Antonio Camachoargued with Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, who is investigating Pedro Sánchez’s wife, Begoña Gómez, when she was declared under investigation.
In some audios that LaSexta had access to, Camacho said that Begoña Gómez was taking advantage of her right not to testify. Given this, Judge Peinado, after thanking the “legal gentleman,” tells her that she must make this statement.
Camacho seems to respond, to which Peinado briefly replies: “Allow me, Mr. Council?”. He therefore insists once again that “this statement must be made directly and personally by the person who is the subject of the investigation.”
After this, Begoña Gómez’s lawyer remains silent and it is then that Judge Peinado directly asks the president’s wife if she is going to take advantage of her right not to testify.
Finally, as can be heard in the audio, Begoña Gómez responds “I will not testify”.
