The film producer Harvey Weinstein He was rushed from a New York prison to a hospital on Monday to undergo emergency heart surgery, according to US media.
His lawyer Arthur Aidala confirmed in statements to the BBC that the producer had been transferred this Monday morning from Riskers Island prison to the hospital in Bellevue. Weinstein had been suffering from chest pains for several days and also suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure. In 2020, he already suffered from an arterial blockage that required hospitalization.

The 72-year-old film producer was convicted of rape and sexual assault in New York in 2020 and was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
