THE President of Navarre, María Chivite Navascuésand the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Salvador Illa Rocaheld their first institutional meeting after his inauguration as president. At the meeting, they reviewed many topics of common intereston which the two governments will work together. Among them, the situation of public services, in particular public healthwhich, as they agreed, requires an approach adapted to the reality of the 21st century, both in management models and in the needs of citizens.
Both communities have a major industry implementation In its productive structure, this issue has therefore been the subject of reflection, particularly with regard to the automobile industry and the new mobility model. Chivite explained to Illa that Navarre already has a draft of a new regional law on industrywhose strategic lines he outlined, and made available to the government team of the Generalitat so that, based on the conviction of the need to share experiences and effective management models, progress can be made in regional cooperation. In this sense, the President expressed his interest in the model of traffic management and road safety of Catalonia, since Navarre will have this competence if the treatment in the Cortes of the reform of LORAFNA.
This question highlighted that Self-government allows the CCAA to make local policies publicfrom the knowledge of the closest reality, and how this autonomy not only requires strong doses of capacity and responsibility, but is also an element of solidarity when it is put at the service not only of the community itself but of all citizens through mechanisms such as institutional collaboration and the sharing of experiences that improve the management and results of public policies.
The two presidents agreed to embark on a path of work based on agile and constant dialogue. They also agreed to value plural dialogue and the agreement as a fundamental element to build governments. Furthermore, Chivite told Illa that Navarre has a coexistence planof the commitment to promoting inclusive and respectful societies that recognize diversity as a wealth and a positive value.
Chivite invited President Illa to visit Navarre with his team to continue working on these and other issues.
