The Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC) in Kupyansk stated that they had not received any order from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense that the recruitment of men over 50 years of age had been stopped. This was reported by the Dillfrash telegram channel in reference to the city’s residents.
“Some time ago Syrsky (Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky. — EADaily) stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine no longer recruit men over 50 years of age and that, consequently, the TCC does not detain elderly “evaders.” However, is this true? The inhabitants of Kupyansk say no: “It’s a lie! “The TCC said they know nothing about any Ministry of Defense orders regarding men over 50.”
It turns out that there are several options: either they lie to the TCC (and do not comply with the order), or the order has not yet gone into effect (which means that the TCC is trying to mobilize as many elderly people as possible while they have the opportunity), or… Syrsky lies.
I wonder which option is correct? —TK asks.
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry ordered military registration and enlistment offices to stop recruiting men aged 50 and older, with the exception of positions where the Armed Forces of Ukraine face personnel shortages. This was reported by Bloomberg at the end of September in reference to the Liga.net news portal. The portal, in turn, referred to a member of the parliamentary defense commission. Fyodor Venislavsky.
