Chunk is reported to currently weigh 544 kilograms. He continues to actively gain weight in preparation for a long hibernation. For comparison, the average weight of an adult grizzly bear is about 180-360 kg.
According to the report, on one of the days of observation, Chank broke his personal record by eating 45 goldfish in just 10.5 hours of fishing. This is equivalent to consuming 135,000 kilocalories per day.

Such a high-calorie “lunch” allows Chank to quickly accumulate fat reserves, which will help him survive the harsh Alaskan winter.
It should be noted that grizzly bears in Alaska increase their body weight by up to 30% in the summer-autumn period. This is the time when colorful fish are abundant in the rivers and bears can easily catch fish and store energy for the long months of hibernation.
